Interesting day. Originally I planned to take US 20 through the mountains but heard about all the fires and a possibility of thunderstorms. So we took I's 84, 86 and, 15 to Idaho Falls. The smoke was hard to believe. We breathed it for 3 hours. Then we started hitting showers but no thunderstorms. Positive side was temps never got above mid 70's.Lots of bikers heading to Sturgis. Not only are we the only ones who aren't but we are also the slowest. How slow you ask, I was nearly passed by a house. I cruise between 60 and 65. This truck hauling half of a double-wide nearly passed me. I cranked up the cruise control to 66-1/2 and flew outta there.
I was a little leery about crossing any bridges after that little episode in Minneapolis. I don't know if any of you remember when the Mianus River bridge on I-95 in CT did the same thing a number of years back. It happened at night and several vehicles just flew off into the dark before they were able to close the road. It had also been 'religiously' inspected. The people who lived near it had complained that it had been sounding differently but were ignored.
Alrighty then, tomorrow it's Snowfo and the bears in Yellowstone. I bought Oreos. Every living creature loves Oreos. I know animal psychology. So, deal the grizzlies some oreos, they become your friends, Connie hops up on their back, zingo, we have a once-in-a-life photo op!!!!! No sweat, they won't pay her no heed, not enough meat on her bones to warrant the effort. I've warned her not to nail them with her spurs or try and grab back an oreo if they don't cooperate.
